From April 28 to 29, co-hosted by the German Chamber of Commerce in China - North China and the German Embassy in China, the German Chamber Industry Days in Xi’an was held. Focusing on the theme of "Automation and Mobility", the delegation visited a number of benchmark Sino-German enterprises and production bases in Xi’an to gain first-hand insight into local industrial development.

First of all, the German engagement here in Sha’anxi is still relatively young. Many German companies have been in China for 30 years and more, but the ones operating here in Xi'an came around 10 years ago. They have made good achievements and good progress. The delegation participants of our event that are coming from Beijing and Shanghai are curious to learn how these German companies managed to develop their business in Xi’an.Secondly, we see that the ones that started to be here 10 years ago continue to invest in Xi'an. The business environment is attractive to international and also to German companies. Looking at our Chamber’s activities in the city, we look forward to reach out more to our local government partners to see how we can further improve the business environment for our member companies so that it's getting more easier for the city and the province to attract more German companies.

Xi'an is a university power house that is very well known here in China. We see a significant number of tech-educated, young people. I'm convinced the future of Xi’an and the industrial development will be very good. We're happy to contribute to that.

首先，德国企业在本地的布局发展起步相对较晚。不少德企深耕中国市场已有三十余年，但落地西安开展运营的企业，大多是近十年才入驻，目前已取得亮眼成绩与长足发展。因此，本次从北京、上海前来的德国企业，也十分好奇本地德企实现良好发展的宝贵经验。其次，我们观察到，十年前落户西安的德企仍在持续加码本地投资，足以说明西安的营商环境适配外资企业发展，对德国企业具备良好吸引力。下一步，我们希望在后续交流走访中，进一步加强与地方政府的对接协作，共同优化营商环境，助力省市吸引更多德国企业落地投资。

西安也是国内知名高教重镇，高校资源密集，每年培育大量理工科高素质青年人才，这正是制造企业高度渴求的核心资源。综上，我十分看好西安的产业发展前景，德国企业也愿意持续为本地产业升级与经贸合作贡献力量。

We started operations at our Xi’an factory in 2019, and today it has become the largest single factory within the entire ebm-papst Group. Here, we produce both small and large fans. In the background, you can see our latest models for data center applications. Xi’an mainly supplies the Asian market — following a “Local for Local” approach — as well as Southeast Asia, India, Korea, and Japan. We not only produce highly efficient fans here, but also operate in a very sustainable way. Our factory features a geothermal heating system and solar panels on the roof, enabling us to run in one of the most environmentally friendly ways within ebm-papst. Our associates are our most important asset. In Xi’an, we benefit from a highly educated workforce. The city is one of China’s leading higher education hubs, providing access to well-trained mechanical and electrical engineers.In addition, Xi’an is geographically located at the center of China and offers excellent logistics access to all regions across the country. Last but not least, we receive strong support from the local government and the industrial park in Lintong, which enables us to grow rapidly in the Chinese market.

我们于2019年正式投运西安工厂，如今它已发展成为整个依必安派特集团内规模最大的单体工厂。

在这里，我们既生产小型风机，也生产大型风机。在我身后的产线上，是我们面向数据中心应用的最新产品。西安工厂主要服务亚洲市场——遵循“Local for Local（立足本土，服务本土）”的策略，同时也覆盖东南亚、印度、韩国和日本等市场。我们不仅在这里生产高效节能的风机产品，同时也以高度可持续的方式运营工厂。工厂配备了地源热泵供热系统，并在屋顶安装了太阳能光伏板，使其成为集团内最具环境友好性的生产基地之一。

Over the past few years, we have steadily scaled up our investment in automation, introducing world-leading brands including Stäubli robots. While embracing automation at the plant, we have also integrated the latest AI technologies to enable the combined application of artificial intelligence and robotics. Our automation deployment covers not only the assembly process but also all inspection procedures, where automated equipment has been fully adopted. For instance, automated robotic technology is applied to our leak detection process. I believe this constitutes the greatest competitive advantage of our Xi’an plant.In terms of R&D, we focus heavily on supporting the development of gas generator-related products.

Besides our existing product lines, we will launch more next-generation gas generator products to the market. To successfully bring next-generation gas generators to market, the R&D side must ensure solid product development and the corresponding development of sample part workshops. Therefore, over the next two to three years, we will further upgrade and enhance our laboratories and sample part workshops, building up technical reserves and R&D capabilities for the introduction of multiple upcoming products.

我们过去几年持续加大在自动化方面的投资，引入的都是世界顶级品牌，包括史陶比尔机器人。工厂在引入自动化的同时，也结合最新的人工智能技术，将人工智能和机器人结合应用。我们的自动化不只是装配环节实现了自动化，在所有检测环节也都引入了自动化设备。比如我们的泄漏检测，采用的也是自动化机器人技术。我认为这就是西安工厂最大的优势。在研发方面，我们重点聚焦服务于气体发生器相关研发。

除现有产品外，我们还将向市场推出更多下一代气体发生器产品。想要把下一代气体发生器推向市场，研发端就要做好产品开发和样件室配套开发。所以未来两到三年，我们还会进一步升级完善实验室和样件室，为即将引入的多款新产品，做好技术储备和研发储备工作。（记者 赵婧 by:Zhao Jing)
